A Review
The Railway
Our night got off on the right track from the moment we walked through the door at the railway. We where greeted with a warm welcome and an offer of a drink at the bar before we headed to our table. This is when it got tricky…. making a decision about what to eat has never been a strong point of mine, but the railway’s delicious and exciting menu and specials board made my selection even more difficult.
After much turmoil, and recommendation from Jon, I settled on the sticky hot wings for entree and the fish in the bag for main. The hot wings were very tasty and the Asian side salad and BBQ sauce they were served with really made the dish. Around the table we had a nice selection of entrees including the posh prawn cocktail (nice big prawns and the same salad I had with the wings), the special of twice baked soufflé (which was amazing and oozing with gooey cheese) and the Salami Antipasti plate.
Main course arrived and I opened my fish in the bag to discover a lovely fresh piece of sea bass with tomato, potatoes along with a scattering of mussels and clams. Whilst my fish in the bag was very nice, I had serious food envy for the fritto misto (1 generous piece of Salmon, white fish and a lovely large prawn) served with deliciously crunchy chips and tartar sauce which tasted as good as it looked. Then out came the prosciutto, mozzarella pizza which I think I have to say was one of the best pizza’s I have ever eaten – a true taste of Naples.
Despite all being exceptionally full we decided to squeeze in some dessert. The lemon tart is mouth-wateringly good and the banoffee Sunday surprisingly not too rich!
Overall we had a very enjoyable evening – the service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We will defiantly be coming back again soon.
