I’ve eaten here on several occasions, and although the food is quite good (compared to anything else in Honiton) I feel the owners haven’t reached the league they are attempting to attain. On 2 occasions certain of our orders were incorrect, and the last time I dined there the tables were being cleared by 2 children – not the type of service I would expect on a Friday evening, or the level of service for which I was expected to pay! An absolute pleasurable experience – went for a birthday lunch – there were 10 of us mostly from London/Bath and extremely critical foodies, and all of us agreed that the food was delicious!! some went for the Blackboard special and others for the A la Carte – my favourite was the Carpaccio of beef starter followed by the Linguini vongole!!! The food is simply outstanding, the ingredients sing out under careful precise cooking, every plate is a picture of freshness and flavour. the chef and owner is a culinary genius! He has forever changed my perceptions on Italian food and how it should be enjoyed! The food is easy-going and the menu has attitude! You are getting great value for your money and entertained as well. We’ve eaten at the Railway on a couple of occasions now and have enjoyed our meals for flavour, quality of food and presentation. A little more might still be done with softening the decor but the surrounding atmosphere is bustling yet unhurried for the diner . Surprised to read the negative comment above. The railway inn is under new management and is all the better for it. Been to The Railway recently after seeing the Head Chef at the Good Food and Wine show recently, he certainly made an impression and after eating at the restaurant, I have to say, a lasting one! Our First time at the Railway.We love their food. I must say the steak is the best we have ever had and their wok fried giant prawns are superb. The waiter recommended the vanilla ice cream with olive oil, a first for me! But I must say the best ice cream I have ever had. Their service seems very relaxed but professional and although they are a new pub I find their pricing to be very reasonable. Superb food, location and interior, loved the spider crab fiscakes, love the fresh concept too, almost too much choice on the menu, took me ages to decide what I wanted. Ate there again on Wednesday – could it be the camera crews and TV stars or could it be they know what they are doing – food was out of this world!
